Federal Reserve official Williams: Underlying inflation is expected to slow later this year. The U.S. economy has shown remarkable resilience, and technology is generally boosting productivity. Wage growth is in line with productivity growth and will not put pressure on inflation. Businesses have been adapting to a more uncertain world. There is no continuity problem at the Fed. The Fed is focused on its work; leadership issues are not a priority. The Federal Open Market Committee will continue to operate as usual if Warsh's appointment is not quickly confirmed.
