【Easing of Middle East tensions may lead to moderate depreciation of the US dollar: risk currencies such as the Australian dollar and New Zealand dollar are favored】 (1) OCBC Group research FX strategists say that reliable signs of easing tensions in the Middle East could lead to a resumption of the trend of "moderate" depreciation of the US dollar. Reduced energy risks are beneficial to non-US economies and global risk assets. (2) In the context of easing tensions, lower oil prices and a risk-averse environment should make the Australian dollar, New Zealand dollar and Swedish krona more favored than oil-linked Canadian dollar, Norwegian krone and safe-haven currencies Swiss franc and Japanese yen. (3) Strategists tend to go long on the Australian dollar because it benefits from favorable domestic economic factors. Data shows that the Australian dollar rose 1.2% to US$0.7061 and the New Zealand dollar rose 1.1% to US$0.5793.
