EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kallas condemned Israel's airstrikes in Lebanon on March 9, which caused numerous casualties, stating that she could not justify such a large-scale military operation as self-defense. Kallas stated on social media that Israel's exercise of its right to self-defense could not justify causing such widespread destruction, and that Israel's actions were putting immense pressure on the ceasefire agreement reached between the US and Iran, which should also apply to Lebanon. Following the ceasefire agreement, the Israel Defense Forces announced on March 8 that it had launched its largest attack against Hezbollah since the start of the conflict. The Lebanese Health Minister stated that the Israeli attacks on Lebanon on March 8 had resulted in 203 deaths and over 1,000 injuries.
