[UAE and Serbia Deepen Agricultural Cooperation, 60,000 Hectares of Farmland Become a Pillar of Food Security] ⑴ The UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment led a high-level delegation to Serbia to discuss with the Serbian President strengthening the strategic partnership supporting a sustainable food security system within the framework of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). ⑵ Both sides focused on expanding cooperation in food security, agriculture, and sustainable development. UAE investments in Serbia now cover over 600,000 hectares of farmland, with projects by companies like Al Rawafed serving as models of sustainable cooperation. ⑶ The partnership between Siral and Serbian producers has become a key pillar of the UAE's food security system. Field trials have shown significant success with the Serbian barley variety Java in the UAE, creating new opportunities for specialized seed cooperation. ⑷ The UAE minister stated that innovation and advanced agricultural technologies are central to addressing future food challenges. Both sides will strengthen cooperation in research and development, seed technology, agricultural water resource management, and climate-smart agriculture practices. The UAE will also host the 2026 UN Water Conference this year.
