[Hog Prices Plunge to Nearly 10-Year Low] According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, since May, national hog prices have shown a trend of low-level fluctuations and gradual stabilization. In the third week of May, the national hog price was 10.12 yuan per kilogram, a decrease of 0.4% month-on-month and 32.2% year-on-year. At a hog production enterprise in Hebi, Henan, the manager told reporters that local hog prices have continued to decline since the Spring Festival this year, reaching a low of 4.1 yuan per jin (approximately 0.5 kg), the lowest in nearly 10 years, and have shown a low-level fluctuation trend for the past month. Currently, hog production capacity remains relatively abundant, and hog prices are fluctuating weakly. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs recently issued the "Comprehensive Implementation Plan for Hog Production Capacity Regulation," guiding the industry to proactively reduce hog production capacity. Reporters learned that under the guidance of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs' capacity regulation policy, some large-scale breeding enterprises have already proactively reduced the number of breeding sows.
