[Russia proposes to supply Brazil with floating nuclear power plants to power coastal areas] (1) Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov stated that Russia is able to supply Brazil with small-capacity floating nuclear power plants, which would help solve the power supply problem in Brazil's coastal areas. (2) He believes that for regions like Latin America with poor transportation and coastal populations, floating nuclear power plants are a long-term effective solution and may become the electricity product for Latin America, Africa, and many Asian countries in the next twenty years. (3) Reshetnikov confirmed that Russia and Brazil are consulting on the peaceful use of nuclear energy to reach a new agreement and believes that this meeting of the intergovernmental committee will promote its implementation.
