[Senior Iranian Lawmaker: Potential Straits of Hormuz Deal Would Be a "Pure Loss" Without Clear Compensation] ⑴ A senior Iranian lawmaker, a member of Iran's negotiating team with the US, said on Tuesday that a potential deal involving the Strait of Hormuz would be contrary to Iran's national interests. ⑵ The lawmaker posted on social media that accepting any agreement that merely exchanges the reopening of the strait for the lifting of the blockade without guaranteeing Iran's sovereignty or transit fees, lacks clear compensation, and is ambiguous regarding the lifting of sanctions would be a pure loss. ⑶ He added that if the potential agreement also stipulates that Iran's peaceful nuclear use in areas such as power generation and radiopharmaceutical production must be approved by the US, it would be contrary to national interests and violate the conditions set by Iran's leadership and the Supreme National Security Council.
