[Italy's Industrial Turnover Rises 2.0% in March, the Largest Increase in Six Months] ⑴ Italian industrial turnover rose 2.0% month-on-month in March, the largest increase in six months, accelerating from the revised 0.5% in February. ⑵ Domestic sales rebounded sharply (up 2.3%, compared to a 0.2% decline in February), offsetting the slowdown in foreign sales (up 1.5%, compared to 1.8% in February). ⑶ On an annualized basis, calendar-adjusted industrial turnover jumped 4.4%, compared to 0.5% in the previous month, driven by strong growth in both domestic (4.5%, previously 0.4%) and foreign (4.1%, previously 0.7%) sales. ⑷ By sector, energy recorded a robust growth of 25.3%, capital goods rose 5.8%, intermediate goods rose 4.9%, while consumer goods declined by 1.4%. (5) Meanwhile, service sector turnover rose 1.3% month-on-month after falling 0.1% in February, mainly supported by a rebound in wholesale trade (up 2.1%, compared to a previous decline of 0.1%).
