[Dallas Fed President Lori Logan Warns: Global Oil and Gas Supply May Tighten if Strait of Hormuz Shipping Does Not Resume Soon] ⑴ Dallas Federal Reserve President Lori Logan warned that global oil and gas supplies could begin to tighten if shipping through the Strait of Hormuz does not return to normal soon. ⑵ Logan's district includes the Permian Basin, the world's largest shale oil producing region. She stated that U.S. production cannot fill the global oil supply gap caused by the conflict with Iran. ⑶ She said on Wednesday that capital, labor, and other input constraints, coupled with physical bottlenecks in transporting natural gas from West Texas gas fields, mean consumers may face a new reality: key fuel sources will no longer be as abundant as they once were. ⑷ Logan stated that approximately 10% of global oil supply is trapped in the Persian Gulf due to the conflict. So far, reserve releases have filled the gap to some extent, but she added that inventories are ultimately finite.
