[Sources: EU Member States Approve Legislation Related to EU-US Trade Agreement] On May 27th local time, an EU source familiar with the EU meeting stated that EU governments approved legislation on Wednesday to eliminate import tariffs on many US goods. This move aims to avoid US President Trump's threat to impose higher tariffs on EU cars and other products. Under the agreement reached last July at Trump's Turnberry golf resort in Scotland, the EU agreed to eliminate import tariffs on US industrial goods and grant preferential access to US agricultural and seafood products, while accepting the US's 15% tariff on most EU goods. Reportedly, ten months have passed since the framework agreement was signed, and the EU has still not fulfilled its commitments under the agreement. Trump stated that if the EU does not fulfill its commitments by July 4th, he will impose "higher" tariffs on EU goods. (CCTV)
