[UK 5-year vs. 30-year gilt spread nears 115 basis point resistance; 5-year yield plunges to 4.36%] ⑴ The spread between UK 5-year and 30-year gilt yields has widened slightly, currently focusing on the trend resistance level of 116 basis points, followed by the recent high of 118 basis points. The recent low was 103 basis points, and the previous low was 100.5 basis points. ⑵ The 5-year yield has fallen sharply, touching a low of 4.36%, after the previous low of 4.21% on April 17. The 30-year yield reversed course after reaching a high of 5.87% on May 18, and has now fallen back to 5.49%, finding support, followed by 5.45%—the 50% retracement level of the rebound since the March low.
