[Brazil's sugarcane crushing volume surged 123% in late April, with sugar production more than doubling to 1.8 million tons year-on-year] ⑴ Data released Wednesday by the Brazilian Sugarcane Industry Association showed that sugarcane crushing volume in Brazil's central-southern region reached 40.062 million tons in late April, a significant increase of 123.12% year-on-year. Sugar production reached 1.8 million tons, soaring by 109.48% year-on-year. ⑵ During the same period, total ethanol production reached 2.039 billion liters, an increase of 105.85% year-on-year, including corn-based biofuels. Sugar mills used 40.34% of their sugarcane for sugar production, lower than the 45.65% in the same period last year.
