[African Development Bank Projects 4.2% Economic Growth for Africa in 2026] The African Development Bank (ADB) released its "African Economic Outlook 2026" report in Brazzaville, the capital of the Republic of Congo, on the 26th, showing that despite escalating geopolitical tensions and global supply shocks, the average GDP growth rate for African countries is projected to reach 4.2% in 2026, slightly lower than the 4.4% in 2025. The report points out that while the African economy has demonstrated strong resilience, there are significant differences in economic growth across regions. In 2026, East Africa is projected to lead with an economic growth rate of 5.9%, West Africa is projected to grow by 4.7%, and Central Africa by 3.8%; Southern Africa, affected by declining mining output and rising energy costs, is projected to grow by 2.1%.
