[Analysts expect U.S. crude oil inventories to decline for the fifth consecutive week] (1) A survey indicates that U.S. crude oil inventories may decline for the fifth consecutive week, while gasoline inventories are expected to decrease for the 15th consecutive week. (2) According to the average estimate of nine analysts and traders, commercial crude oil inventories are expected to decrease by 4 million barrels to 441 million barrels in the week ending May 22. The estimate range is a decrease of 2 million barrels to 6.8 million barrels. (3) Gasoline inventories are expected to decrease by 2.2 million barrels to 212 million barrels, with an estimate range of a decrease of 500,000 barrels to 3.4 million barrels. (4) Distillate fuel (mainly diesel) inventories are expected to decrease by 1.1 million barrels this week to 101.8 million barrels after a modest increase in the previous two weeks. The estimate range for distillate fuel inventories is a decrease of 3 million barrels to an increase of 3.1 million barrels. (5) A survey indicates that refinery capacity utilization may rise by 0.8 percentage points to 92.4%. The estimate range is an increase of 0.5 percentage points to 1.1 percentage points. Two analysts did not forecast refinery capacity utilization.
