[Lebanese President Calls on All Parties to Make Every Effort to Achieve a Ceasefire] According to a statement released by the Lebanese Presidential Palace on May 29, Lebanese President Michel Aoun spoke by phone with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to discuss the situation in Lebanon and the surrounding region. During the call, Aoun emphasized the necessity of a ceasefire and called on all parties to make every effort to achieve it. Aoun pointed out that a ceasefire is a necessary prerequisite for taking further action and a necessary step to create conditions for resolving outstanding issues. Currently, the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, which began in mid-April, is ineffective.
