[El Niño Event to Affect my country] Recently, the National Marine Environmental Forecasting Center, based on comprehensive analysis of marine monitoring, atmospheric circulation, and multi-model forecasts, predicts that a super El Niño event will form this autumn and winter, potentially surpassing the 1997/1998 event and possibly breaking historical records. Monitoring shows that from January to May this year, the average sea surface temperature in my country's coastal waters was 0.52 degrees Celsius higher than the average for the same period from 1991 to 2020. This abnormally high sea surface temperature will threaten my country's marine ecosystem, particularly the safety of mariculture. Experts explain that a super El Niño event will result in fewer typhoons forming in the Northwest Pacific and South China Sea, but the intensity of typhoons will be stronger. Special attention needs to be paid to preventing disastrous waves, storm surges, and seawater intrusion caused by strong typhoons. Abnormally high precipitation is expected in the Yangtze River basin during the summer of 2027, with a high risk of extreme flooding and severe flood control pressure.
