[Macron Announces Additional €36 Billion in Defense Spending] French President Emmanuel Macron announced today (July 13) that France will allocate an additional €36 billion (approximately RMB 278.3 billion) to defense spending between 2026 and 2030. The new investment will reportedly be primarily used to increase ammunition reserves, strengthen military readiness, enhance France's defense autonomy, and strengthen its nuclear deterrent capabilities. Macron also stated that France has fulfilled its commitment to increasing defense spending to 2.5% of GDP and reiterated its goal of doubling the 2017 defense budget by the end of his second presidential term.
