The US dollar index rose 0.28% on the 13th, closing at 101.235 in late trading. At the close of trading in New York, one euro was worth $1.1387, down from $1.1416 the previous day; one pound sterling was worth $1.3360, down from $1.3398 the previous day. One dollar was worth 162.36 yen, up from 161.69 yen the previous day; one dollar was worth 0.8141 Swiss francs, up from 0.8085 Swiss francs the previous day; one dollar was worth 1.4151 Canadian dollars, slightly down from 1.4152 Canadian dollars the previous day; and one dollar was worth 9.7079 Swedish krona, up from 9.6638 Swedish krona the previous day. Looking at the overall performance of the foreign exchange market that day, the US dollar appreciated against the Japanese yen, Swiss franc, and Swedish krona, with only a slight depreciation against the Canadian dollar. It also appreciated against the euro and British pound. Overall strength was the main driving force behind the rise of the US dollar index.
