[Estimated Over 2,700 Deaths in England and Wales Due to Early Summer Heatwave] A recent analysis released by the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine estimates that the two heatwaves that occurred in England and Wales in May and June may have caused more than 2,700 deaths. This analysis was conducted by researchers from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, Imperial College London, and the UK Met Office. Researchers estimate that during the heatwave from May 21 to 29, approximately 550 deaths in England and Wales may have been related to high temperatures; and during the heatwave from June 18 to 28, approximately 2,200 deaths may have been related to high temperatures.
