[Czech Republic's Current Account Deficit Widens to 38.3 Billion Crowns in May, First Deficit in Five Months] ⑴ The Czech Republic's current account deficit widened to 38.3 billion crowns in May, compared to 17.6 billion crowns in the same period last year, far exceeding market expectations of a 25 billion crown deficit. This marks the first time the country has returned to a deficit after five consecutive months of surplus. ⑵ The primary income account deficit widened to 66.3 billion crowns from 49.8 billion crowns in May 2025, while the secondary income account deficit widened to 7.9 billion crowns from 2.8 billion crowns. ⑶ The goods account surplus narrowed to 24.2 billion crowns from 26.5 billion crowns; the services account surplus widened to 11.7 billion crowns from 8.4 billion crowns.
