[Indonesia's palm oil exports plunged more than 28% in May, while inventories climbed due to shrinking exports] (1) Data released Wednesday by the Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI) showed that palm oil exports in May totaled 1.996 million tons, down 28.1% month-on-month and 25.1% year-on-year from 2.664 million tons in May last year. (2) Crude palm oil production in the same period was 4.165 million tons, down 7% month-on-month, with production also declining. (3) Despite the decline in production, palm oil inventories rose to 3.042 million tons by the end of May, up 18.9% from the previous month, due to a larger drop in exports.
