[Iranian-related vessels transit the Strait of Hormuz in large numbers ahead of the blockade, geopolitical premiums continue to boost oil prices and freight rates] ⑴ On the eve of the US reimposing maritime blockade on Iranian ports, numerous vessels involved in trade with Iran transited the Strait of Hormuz. Ship tracking data shows that 11 vessels transited the Strait on Tuesday, nine of which were involved in Iranian trade routes. ⑵ The transit vessels included oil tankers, product tankers, liquefied petroleum gas carriers, methanol tankers, and iron ore carriers, indicating that Iran was accelerating the movement of goods before the blockade window closed. ⑶ Following the escalation of US-Iran military confrontation and the tightening of US economic and maritime pressure, the security situation in the Strait of Hormuz has continued to deteriorate. This waterway carries a significant proportion of global oil and gas transport. ⑷ Recently, due to increased security risks, the number of vessels transiting the Strait has decreased significantly, with some vessels actively detouring, resulting in a significant slowdown in shipping activity. ⑸ Geopolitical uncertainty continues to push up crude oil prices and freight costs. Traders remain highly vigilant about supply chain disruptions, and analysts warn that prolonged instability could lead to a substantial impact on global energy trade.
