[Mitsubishi UFJ Bank: Thai baht faces multiple headwinds and may weaken further against the US dollar] (1) Lloyd Chan, senior foreign exchange analyst at Mitsubishi UFJ Bank, pointed out that Thailand's low carry trade yields pose a persistent headwind, while the recent rebound in oil prices may worsen Thailand's terms of trade. (2) Escalating tensions in the Middle East increase growth risks, which may prompt the Bank of Thailand to maintain its accommodative policy to support the economy, further suppressing the baht. (3) The bank's valuation metrics show that the baht is still moderately overvalued; the US dollar is currently trading at 33.58 against the baht, having touched 33.67 on Wednesday, the highest intraday level since April 2025.
