[EU and India Deepen Scientific and Technological Cooperation, Launch Horizon Europe Negotiations] (1) The EU and India have agreed to formally launch negotiations on India’s participation in the flagship scientific research program Horizon Europe (total scale of €95.5 billion), with a target of completion by the end of this year. Once the agreement is reached, Indian universities, research institutions and enterprises will be able to participate in joint research projects, which will further expand the cooperation between the two sides beyond the free trade agreement. (2) The two sides also agreed to establish the first EU-India Electric Vehicle Charging Technology and Testing Innovation Center and launch a startup partnership focusing on deep-tech clean technologies. (3) In addition, the two sides will strengthen cooperation in cutting-edge fields such as semiconductors, high-performance computing, quantum technology, artificial intelligence and 6G, and deepen the construction of resilient value chains such as agro-food, active pharmaceutical ingredients and clean energy technologies.
