[Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences Achieves New Progress in Mid-Infrared Continuous-Range Laser Spectral Beam Combining] A research team led by Shao Jianda and Jin Yunxia from the Department of High-Power Laser Components Technology and Engineering at the Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, has made new progress in mid-infrared high-power continuous-range laser spectral beam combining, with related research results published in Optics Letters. The research team proposed a jigsaw-grating spectral beam combining architecture, which achieves efficient beam combining of multiple mid-infrared lasers through distributed splicing of multiple small-aperture sub-gratings within an equivalent large-aperture grating space. This scheme avoids dependence on ultra-large-aperture monolithic gratings, effectively reduces the difficulty of grating manufacturing, and improves the scalability of multi-channel beam combining systems. This research provides a new technical path for expanding mid-infrared multi-channel spectral beam combining systems from tens of watts to hundreds of watts, and also provides a reference for the construction of multi-band high-power laser platforms from visible light to terahertz.
