GameStop CEO Ryan Cohen recently addressed concerns about the gradual withdrawal of physical game discs from the market. He stated unequivocally that physical video game sales currently constitute only a very small percentage of the company's overall business and have a negligible impact on its operations. He also reiterated that the company's long-term development plan will focus on the gaming merchandise business and the acquisition of e-commerce giant eBay. When asked about the impact of Sony's announcement earlier this month that it would discontinue physical disc production of new PlayStation games by 2028 on the company's business, Cohen stated bluntly: "It doesn't matter at all. It has absolutely no impact."
