[US Military Claims to Intercept Multiple Ships Attempting to Break Blockade Against Iran] On July 16 local time, the US Central Command stated that, to date, the US military has forced three merchant ships attempting to break the blockade to change course and rendered one uncooperative vessel inoperable. The US stated that the Strait of Hormuz and surrounding waters remain free to roam, except for ships attempting to violate the US blockade against Iran. On July 14 local time, the US Central Command stated that the US military had reinstated the maritime blockade against ships entering and leaving Iranian ports and coastal areas at 4:00 PM Eastern Time (11:30 PM Tehran Time) that day.
