[China Ranks Second Globally in Unicorn Companies, Hard Technology Becomes Core] The "China Unicorn Companies Research Report 2026," released yesterday, shows that by the end of 2025, the total number of unicorn companies in China will reach 376, an increase of 35 from the previous year; their total valuation will reach US$1.4467 trillion, with an average valuation of US$3.85 billion, an increase of US$510 million from the previous year. The number of super unicorn companies will increase to 12. Nearly 90% of China's unicorn companies are private enterprises, accounting for 88.6%; high-tech enterprises account for 66.5%, and specialized and innovative "little giant" enterprises account for 34.8%. In 2025, the number of cutting-edge technology unicorn companies will reach 320, accounting for 85.1% of the total, an increase of 14.9 percentage points from the previous year; among newly added unicorn companies, cutting-edge technology companies account for more than 90%.
