[Malaysia's Food Inflation Remains Stable at Four-Month High in June, with Meat Prices Rising Significantly] ⑴ Malaysian food prices rose 1.4% year-on-year in June, unchanged from May, continuing to remain at a four-month high. Prices for food consumed at home rose to 0.5% from 0.3% in May, while prices for food eaten out fell slightly to 2.4% (previous value 2.5%). ⑵ Among the major categories, meat prices rose 1.5% year-on-year, a significant increase from the previous 0.2%; cereals and cereal products rose 0.2% (previous value 0.1%), fish and other seafood rose 1.4% (previous value 1.6%), oils and fats reversed their previous flat trend to rise 0.2%, and fruits and nuts rose 1.0% (previous value 1.4%). ⑶ Sugar, confectionery and dessert prices remained flat at 0.5%; the cost of milk, other dairy products and eggs rose slightly by 0.1%, reversing the 0.8% decline in May.
