[Eurozone Current Account Deficit Narrows to €6.19 Billion in May as Primary Income Deficit Shrinks, Improving Outlook] ⑴ The Eurozone recorded a current account deficit of €6.19 billion in May, a slight narrowing from €6.57 billion in the same period last year. The improvement was mainly driven by a significant reduction in the primary income deficit, which fell to €22.44 billion from a record €42.35 billion in May 2025. ⑵ The secondary income deficit widened to €13.19 billion from €10.84 billion; the goods surplus narrowed to €9.45 billion, the smallest since April 2023; while the services surplus widened to €19.99 billion from €16.42 billion. The cumulative current account surplus for January to May this year rose to €67.5 billion from €64.37 billion in the same period last year.
