[French Corn Quality Rating Drops Again as Extreme Drought Accelerates Harvest Progress] ⑴ The French agricultural office stated on Friday that, affected by persistent abnormally hot and dry weather, the country's corn crop quality rating had dropped to approximately 41% as of July 13th, a significant decline compared to the previous week and the same period last year, indicating a continued deepening impact of extreme weather on growing crops. ⑵ The harvest of most grains is nearing completion or essentially finished, with the overall progress about one to two weeks ahead of the five-year average. Corn development is also faster than usual, reflecting that high temperatures and drought have accelerated the crop maturity cycle. ⑶ The soft wheat harvest is about 92% complete, nearly two weeks ahead of the five-year average, but the quality rating is slightly lower than the same period last year; the winter barley harvest is complete, and the spring barley harvest is about 90% complete, with both showing varying degrees of decline in ratings. ⑷ The durum wheat harvest is nearing completion, significantly ahead of schedule, but the quality rating is significantly lower than last year's level, showing that despite the earlier harvest time, extreme weather is still substantially dragging down yield potential and quality.
