Iraq is assembling a massive trucking convoy to transport fuel via Syria, bypassing the Strait of Hormuz. The country is shifting its exports away from the Strait of Hormuz, rapidly transforming neighboring Syria into a key export hub in the Middle East. In just a few months, Syria's fuel exports have surged from zero to now account for more than a quarter of the Middle East's total fuel exports. The shipments are transported by thousands of trucks, taking approximately four days to reach Syrian ports on the Mediterranean coast from Iraq. Previously, the disruption of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz severely impacted Iraq's finances, and the country is now seeking ways to stabilize its oil-related revenues. Besides Syria, Iraq also transports trucks loaded with fuel oil via Jordan, and according to traders, a small amount of crude oil is also being transported by road truck.
