On the 18th local time, the Iranian Foreign Ministry stated that Article 5 of the Memorandum of Understanding between Iran and the United States explicitly prohibits the United States from establishing a separate parallel shipping lane in the Strait of Hormuz. This Memorandum of Understanding is based on mutual commitments made by both countries, and as long as the United States faithfully fulfills its commitments, Iran will strictly abide by the corresponding agreements.
