The UK's Office for Maritime Trade Operations (OMTO) recently issued a statement reclassifying the incident, which occurred approximately 65 nautical miles south of Mukalla, Yemen, as a ship hijacking. It is understood that unidentified individuals boarded and took control of the vessel, which was sailing eastward in the Gulf of Aden at the time. The military subsequently informed OOMTO that the hijacked vessel was now under the control of the perpetrators and had entered Somali territorial waters.
