[G30 Lianyungang-Horgos Expressway's Key Xinjiang Section Opens to Traffic After Reconstruction and Expansion] On the 30th, the reconstruction and expansion of the Xingxingxia-Hami and Hami-Tuyugou sections of the G30 Lianyungang-Horgos Expressway were completed, and the entire line opened to traffic. This crucial section for entering and exiting Xinjiang has been widened from a four-lane dual carriageway to an eight-lane dual carriageway, doubling the expressway's capacity for traffic in and out of Xinjiang. The G30 Lianyungang-Horgos Expressway is an important east-west trunk line in the national expressway network and one of the three major expressway corridors for entering and exiting Xinjiang. The Xingxingxia-Hami and Hami-Tuyugou sections are located in Hami City and Turpan City, Xinjiang, respectively, and are vital key sections for entering and exiting Xinjiang. These sections have been in use for many years, but with the increasing traffic volume, congestion during peak hours has gradually become a bottleneck restricting regional development. In 2023, the reconstruction and expansion project of the Xingxingxia-Hami and Hami-Tuyugou sections was launched, with a total length of 537 kilometers and a design speed of 120 kilometers per hour. To further improve traffic efficiency, Xinjiang has eliminated toll stations on the Xingha and Hatu sections of the main line, allowing vehicles to pass through quickly. Simultaneously, windproof facilities and a strong wind warning system have been installed to enhance travel safety and comfort. The Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Transportation Department stated that, as of now, Xinjiang has three expressway routes in and out of the region: the G7 Beijing-Xinjiang Expressway, the G30 Lianyungang-Khorgas Expressway, and the Yitunbulak-Ruoqiang Expressway. All prefectures and cities in Xinjiang have expressway coverage, and the total length of expressways in operation has exceeded 8,000 kilometers. (Xinhua News Agency)
