The sources, Europe's largest bank, are exploring the transfer of assets from its £18.7 billion (US$25.1 billion) UK pension fund pool. The sources requested anonymity as the negotiations are currently confidential. According to HSBC's UK annual report, the pension fund surplus reached £5.26 billion as of December 2025.
