[Maybank: Uncertainty in Thai Data Center Regulations Expected to Pressure Private Investment and BOI Data] (1) Maybank Securities (Thailand) analyst Chak Reungsinpinya stated in a report that private investment in Thailand may be under pressure due to regulatory uncertainty surrounding data centers. (2) The Thai government has disclosed plans to reform the data center investment approval process and has suspended the development of 166 new data centers. (3) Data center applications received by the Board of Investment in the second quarter slowed significantly from the peak in the first quarter. (4) Other industries, including automotive and electronics, have seen much more stable project applications, approvals, and issuances. (5) However, in terms of investment scale, these industries are still far smaller than data centers. (6) Maybank stated: "Therefore, with data center regulations yet to be finalized, we do not expect a substantial recovery in overall BOI data."
