[Poland's August Inflation Rate Rises to 3.4%, a More Than One-Year High] ⑴ Poland's annual inflation rate rose to 3.4% in August from 3.0% in July, in line with the preliminary estimate, marking the highest level since June 2025. ⑵ Prices rose across several categories: housing and utilities increased from 4.5% to 4.6%, transportation surged from 7.0% to 11.2%, entertainment, sports and culture rose from 5.4% to 6.5%, education rose from 5.3% to 5.4%, and personal hygiene, social security and other goods and services rose from 1.6% to 2.4%. ⑶ The rate of increase in alcoholic beverages and tobacco products slowed to 6.6% from 6.9%, healthcare fell to 4.7% from 4.9%, information and communication fell to 3.5% from 5.2%, and restaurants and accommodation services remained stable at 4.2%. ⑷ Deflation in clothing and footwear narrowed to -2.9% from -3.6%, while the decline in food and non-alcoholic beverage prices widened to -0.9% from -0.4%. (5) On a month-on-month basis, consumer prices rose 0.3% in August, compared with 0.8% in the previous month.
