[Bulgaria's August Inflation Rate Confirmed at 5.1%, with Transportation Prices Rising Significantly] ⑴ Bulgaria's annual inflation rate rose to 5.1% in August from a four-month low of 4.5% in July, consistent with the preliminary reading. ⑵ Prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco rose from 5.7% to 6.1%, transportation prices surged from 14.5% to 21.5%, entertainment prices rose from 7.5% to 7.6%, restaurant and hotel prices rose from 9.3% to 9.6%, and miscellaneous goods and services prices rose from 5.3% to 5.6%. ⑶ Housing and utilities prices remained stable at 5.1%, furniture and household equipment prices remained stable at 0.3%, and clothing and footwear prices were unchanged, compared to a decrease of 0.4% in the previous month. (4) The rate of increase in food and non-alcoholic beverage prices slowed to 0.8% from 1.2%, healthcare to 3.3% from 4.0%, education to 9.1% from 9.2%, information and communication to 1.5% from 1.8%, and insurance and financial services to decrease by 0.3% from a 1.1% increase. (5) On a month-on-month basis, consumer prices rose 0.6% in August, compared with 0.8% in the previous month.
