[Italy's Trade Surplus Widens to €8.24 Billion in July, Largest Since July 2020] ⑴ Italy's trade surplus widened to €8.24 billion in July from €7.83 billion in July 2025, the largest since July 2020, far exceeding market expectations of €4.77 billion. ⑵ Exports rose 4.7% year-on-year to a record €64.55 billion, mainly driven by a 13.8% increase in basic metals and metal products (excluding machinery and equipment), a 27.3% increase in coke and refined petroleum products, and a 15.9% increase in sporting goods, games, musical instruments, precious metals, medical devices, and other unclassified products. ⑶ Imports increased 4.6% to €56.31 billion.
