(2) Faced with increasingly high childcare expenses, many young parents are beginning to rely more on their parents, and "parent banks" continue to support the third generation. (3) A survey by the Bank of Montreal (BMO) Real Financial Progress Index shows that nearly two-fifths of parents with young children expect to receive or seek financial support from their parents or grandparents in the coming year. (4) Of these, 47% said they would receive cash directly from relatives to cover basic daily expenses; a quarter expected relatives to deposit money into their children's 529 education savings accounts or other savings accounts.
