Speaking at a congressional hearing, Bessenter said, "A strong dollar is not just a price on a screen; it's a reflection of a series of actions. As we've seen during this administration, we are building regulatory certainty, tax certainty, trade certainty, and energy certainty, which is bringing trillions of dollars into the United States." He noted that while countries like Russia have reduced their foreign exchange reserves, other countries are actively increasing them.
