Nippon Steel's U.S. Steel Košice subsidiary will invest approximately €900 million to build an electric arc furnace and air separation unit at its Košice plant in Slovakia. This investment is eligible for subsidies from the Slovakian government of up to €350 million. The electric arc furnace will have an annual capacity of approximately 1.6 million tons. The project is expected to be operational by 2030.
