[Jera Seeks to Expand Long-Term LNG Exports: Expanding Global Business and Absorbing Excess Supply, Asian Buyers Turn to Alternative Sources] (1) Jera, one of the world’s largest buyers of liquefied natural gas (LNG), is seeking to expand its long-term exports of the fuel to expand its global business and absorb excess supply. (2) Japan’s largest power producer, which mainly imports LNG for domestic consumption, is seeking to “identify additional markets to sell to” its Jera Global Energy Solutions, which is responsible for long-term LNG business. (3) Many Asian countries are seeking alternative LNG supplies as ongoing wars in the Middle East disrupt the transport of ultra-cold fuel through the Strait of Hormuz. (4) The Strait of Hormuz once handled one-fifth of the world’s LNG shipments. (5) Buyers are seeking to mitigate risk by signing contracts with exporters outside the Persian Gulf.
