[20th Anniversary of BRICS Cooperation: Jiangsu's Imports and Exports to Other BRICS Countries Increased by 4.4% in the First 8 Months, and Automobile Exports from Taicang Port Increased by About 58%] (1) This year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the BRICS cooperation mechanism. According to statistics from Nanjing Customs, in the first eight months of this year, Jiangsu's imports and exports to other BRICS countries reached 535.22 billion yuan, an increase of 4.4% year-on-year. (2) As an important advanced manufacturing base in the Yangtze River Delta region, Changzhou has a good industrial base in photovoltaic, energy storage, and power grid equipment, which is highly compatible with the energy transition of BRICS countries. (3) In addition to photovoltaic materials, domestic automobiles have become an important growth point for Jiangsu's exports to other BRICS countries. (4) On September 11, a batch of domestic automobiles departed from Haitong (Taicang) Automobile Terminal for Brazil. (5) At present, Taicang Port has opened roll-on/roll-off routes to Brazil, the UAE and other BRICS countries, becoming an important logistics hub for domestic automobiles to be exported to the local market. (6) Data from Taicang Customs shows that in the first eight months of this year, Taicang Port exported more than 270,000 automobiles to other BRICS countries, an increase of about 58% year-on-year.
