[Saudi Arabia bypasses the Strait of Hormuz: Ship-to-ship transshipment outside Oman's Sohar port to increase crude oil supply to Asia] (1) Sources say that Saudi Arabia is supplying more crude oil to Asian refineries by transshipment outside Oman's Sohar port after drone attacks damaged a key Saudi oil pipeline to the Red Sea. (2) Sources say that Saudi Aramco has offered its main crude oil, Arab Light, as well as Arab Medium and Arab Heavy crude, to long-term contract buyers in Asia for loading off the coast of Sohar port, which is outside the Strait of Hormuz. (3) These offers indicate that Saudi Aramco is shipping more crude oil out of the Gulf for transshipment outside this waterway. (4) Saudi Aramco has made similar Arab Medium and Arab Heavy crude oil supply offers to Asian buyers at least twice in recent weeks. (5) Satellite tracking data from consulting firm Energy Aspects shows that daily crude oil loading at Saudi Arabia’s Rastanura and Juaima terminals in the Gulf doubled in the past week, reaching the equivalent of two Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs), or 4 million barrels. (6) Another vessel tracking report from Kpler shows that four VLCCs were loading crude oil at Rastanura on Wednesday, with a total carrying capacity of 8 million barrels.
