[Caturus: US LNG Buyers Seek Alternatives to Henry Hub Pricing, But Traditional Contracts Remain Important for Financing] (1) David Long, chief legal and compliance officer at natural gas exploration and production company Caturus, said that US liquefied natural gas (LNG) buyers are looking for alternatives to the traditional Henry Hub pricing mechanism. (2) Speaking at the International Gas Technology Conference in Bangkok, Long said that traditional LNG contracts linked to Henry Hub prices, which have financed LNG projects along the US Gulf Coast in the past, "are not something everyone wants." (3) He mentioned that some buyers do not want their businesses to be affected by fluctuations in that benchmark price. (4) However, traditional contracts remain very important for project financing because lenders prefer these standardized contract frameworks that have been used for a long time.
