[European Feed Producers Federation: EU Soybean Meal Supply Shortage May Approach 5 Million Tons in 2026-27] ⑴ The European Feed Producers Federation stated in a press release that the EU's soybean meal supply shortage in the 2026-27 marketing year may approach 5 million tons, accounting for approximately 20% of its total demand. ⑵ Alternative raw materials to fill this gap are very limited. ⑶ The statement said that severe drought, disruptions to Black Sea trade, and restrictions on raw material procurement under EU timber regulations are all squeezing the EU feed supply chain. ⑷ It is currently estimated that purchasing soybean, rapeseed, and sunflower meal that complies with EU timber regulations for feed production will add €1.4 billion in costs. ⑸ This will directly lead to an increase of approximately €40 per ton in pork costs and €15 per ton in poultry costs.
