[Institutions: Pound Sterling Remains in Difficult Circumstances, Weak Growth and High Inflation Pressure It] ⑴ In a report, Marex's Jonathan Pryor stated that the pound remains in a difficult situation as the Bank of England struggles to cope with high inflation and weak UK economic growth. ⑵ He said that growth remains lackluster, and unless there is hope for some productivity boost from AI, which is still in its very early stages, there seems to be nothing that can pull the UK economy out of its predicament. ⑶ He added that at the same time, inflation remains uncomfortably high, and energy prices continue to rise. ⑷ He believes that given these factors and high UK government bond yields, the Bank of England's job is quite challenging.
