Ireland's trade surplus widened to €5.3 billion in July, a 10-month high. ⑴ Ireland's trade surplus significantly expanded to €5.3 billion in July 2026 from €4.1 billion in the same period last year, the largest surplus since September 2025. ⑵ Exports increased by 12.5% year-on-year to €18.9 billion, driven by a 30.0% increase in exports of live non-fish products and a 116.1% increase in exports of mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials. ⑶ Among major trading partners, exports to the UK increased by 34.0%, exports to the US by 16.0%, and exports to Northern Ireland by 4.0%. ⑷ Imports increased by 7.5% to €13.6 billion, mainly driven by a 51.5% increase in imports of tobacco and tobacco products and a 124.3% increase in imports of electricity. ⑸ Imports from the US increased by 6.0%, imports from the rest of the world increased by 43.0%; imports from the UK decreased by 1.0%, and imports from Northern Ireland decreased by 16.0%. (6) From January to June, the country recorded a trade surplus of 29.1 billion euros, significantly lower than the 82.7 billion euros in the same period last year.
